Has This Ever Happened to You?

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

You have a couple of kids. Things are going really great, and you and your partner/spouse/mate decide that adding to your family would be an excellent idea! You decide to go for it, and have #3, because, after all, you saved every stitch of clothing #1 and #2 wore (You’re covered, right?). Everything goes really well, and you are really excited for the arrival of #3. You prepare for the big arrival by taking out all of #2’s clothes (Because #2 and #3 will be the same gender) and prepare the room. You are overflowing with excitement as you bring home your precious bundle! Everything is in it’s perfect place, and baby girl (Lily) fits right into #2’s (Ruthie) clothes. It’s wonderful…for the first couple of months. Then, you decide that there is a difference. Aside from their very deceiving almost parallell looks, baby girl (Lily) seems to be a larger (Read GARGANTUAN) little one. She seems to be tearing through #2’s (Ruthie) wardrobe at an alarming rate (Feel my panic).

Now, let’s imagine that you had a special day. It’s your 9th wedding anniversary, and your husband has to work. You send #1(Charlie) and #3(Lily) off to their grandparents house so you can get some clothes re-arranging in Andre The Giant’s (I mean er, Lily’s) room. Now, imagine that you had a nice shopping trip for household necessities (Read-Food and Toilet Paper) with #2 (Ruthie) and returned home to a starving, tired husband. The three of you have a wonderful dinner out, and when you return home you spend no less than 4 (read- 7 1/2) hours taking out old clothes, sorting them, and getting out new clothes and putting them in their place. You feel all happy, and accomplished, and then it happens…….you realize everything is all wrong! All of the “next size clothes” (12Mo) are the wrong season! #2 (Ruthie) my sweet, sweet, little petite Princess was in 6-9 months until she was no less than 15 months old. That’s great for her, but Monster baby (I mean Lily) is already in 6-9 mo and moving out of it, and she’s only 8 months old. There is no way she will be in 6-9 months through the summer. I have not one single stitch of 12 mo clothing of the summer pursuasion. Not one! No sundresses, no shorts, Nothing. Zilch. Zip. Nada. Lily (I mean #3) will need a whole new wardrobe. This has been my fear since she came home from the hospital in 0-3 mo instead of Preemie like her sister. I’m freaking out. I’m panicing. I’m realizing that while they all might look relatively similar, they are all 3 very, very different. -Sigh-

I guess I will be spending April Fool’s day at the used kids clothing store stocking up on summer necessities for Lily!

Sabrina

Sometimes You Gotta Try New Things…

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Well, after reading another blog written by a mom of Triplets, and a bonus baby (She has 4 kids under 5 and cooks breakfast for them every day!) I decided about 2 months ago that giving my kids cold cereal for breakfast is unacceptable. Ok, it works when we’re at grandma and grandpa’s, or if we have a busy morning, but I try every day to prepare a good, healthy, wholesome breakfast for the kids. It’s also much easier to accomplish this now that Charlie is up long before he has to be at school. Afternoon Pre-K is so much more convenient than AM Pre-K!

What have I been making them you ask? Well, for the most part scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, waffles, and fruit. I know, pathetic, right!? So, today I decided to mix things up. I got out the ole’ cookbook and read how to make a nice fluffy omelet for the kids. And I did it! I’m really proud of myself. Organic eggs, cheese, and fresh cut up strawberries with home-made whipping cream – YUM!  Here’s some photos!

The kids would have eaten the strawberries without the whipped cream, but I thought it looked more appealing aesthetically.

He actually ate the omelet FIRST! He really enjoys eggs!

I should probably add here that the pediatrician told me to get Ruthie probiotic yogurt to help her diarrhea while she’s on the antibiotics for the ear infections (Which I just noticed I never blogged about). And, well, what one has the other MUST also have…

This is all that was left! Mission accomplished!

This is all that was left! Mission accomplished!

When he was done he said “Mom I’m SOOOOO STUFFED with eggs!”

Ruthie is almost done with her amoxicillian now. It’s been a long week. Between the rotavirus ravaging our house (Ruthie, Chris, My Mom), the double ear infections, continued brace wearing due to her broken collarbone, I’m wiped out. Oh, and I’ve kicked in and started making my own baby food again too…today was corn and pears!

A Little Out Of Focus, but she was really enjoying it!

Yum, Pears!!

“Mom, I like the pears MUUUUUUCH better than the corn; lets start with that next time!”

I’m sure some of you are wondering why my daughter has no pants/dress on. The answer is because I couldn’t get her to keep them on! I tried, Lordy did I ever try, but it was just futile. She wanted to be pants-free so it would be easier to potty, or at least that’s my rationality for it. I had the most beautiful dresses for the girls to wear, and cute outfit for Charlie, and none of them would wear any of it! Now, I could have forced Lily, BUT she would have been the only one dressed up and I didn’t want her to feel like a nerd ;o) So, they’re in what they’re in…and I have photos to bring out for her wedding slideshow someday FAAAAAAAAR in the future!

Thank You Papa, Mema, and Auntie Gloria! Merry Christmas!

My Trio With Santa

My Trio With Santa

We went to see Santa for the last time yesterday! Despite their being a blizzard, and almost white-out conditions, we trekked to the mall and got it done! While in line Ruthie was jumping up and down and yelling “Santa! Santa” with extreme excitement, and trying desperately to see him over the railing. Charlie was waving at him, and was so excited that Santa waved back! I’m certain they will have a wonderful Christmas Eve celebration at Grandma and Grandpa’s tonight, and that tomorrow morning their eyes will twinkle with delight that Santa has not forgotten to bring the gifts they asked them for. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Hugs,

Sabrina

PS. Yes, the girls are wearing matching dresses and tights. I got them at Sears. Ruthie’s is a 2T and Lily’s is 3-6mo.

Lily @ 4 Months

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but Lily is now over 4 months old. She is getting so big, and growing so fast! Here are her stats:

Weight: 12lbs 15oz  (24th%)

Height: 25″  (65th%)

Head Circumference: 15 3/4″  (14th%)

She is up from Weight 15%,  Height 17%, but down for Head which was 31% at her last checkup (2 mo). Overall she seems to be switching up to a similar growth pattern of her Big Brother, Charlie. She is very tall, and is even wearing some 6-9mo outfits already! Her closet is overflowing with 3-6 because Ruthie was in them until she was almost 7 mo old, but I believe Lily will be out of them before she reaches 6mo! Our next checkup will be at 6 months, and I will update on her growth stats then. She had 3 more shots, and the 2nd dose of Rotavirus. She should now be protected from that horrible virus, and hopefully will continue with no reactions to her shots!

And, as always, some photos! Enjoy!

Talking, excuse her clothes she had just eaten cereal & veggies.

She is now eating cereal 2x’s daily, and starting veggies. She is talking  and scooting, and getting more interactive with all of us! Her head control is good, and she is pushing up on her belly. She has mastered the Bumbo seat and enjoys sitting up in it for at least an hour at a time. She has the tray, so she also enjoys looking at toys, and hands that are placed on or under it. She’s getting to know some new textures, and is exploring more in the world around her. It’s so exciting! We still have to get a good photo with Santa, and I have professional pics coming in the 22nd, I will update the blog with them when I get them!

Who’s Who??

Friday, December 19th, 2008

It has been brought to my attention on several occasions that my children all look like clones of one another. I agree that they look similar, but I disagree that they look “that much alike”. I will admit that the girls look very much alike as babies, and I can’t wait to see what they look like as they get a little older. What is this all leading to? Well, I’m posting pictures of the 3, and I would like you to tell me which baby is which. Have Fun! This will probably be easier for those who have known me longer, but give it a try anyway! Good Luck! Match up Charlie, Ruthie, and Lily with the appropriate baby. :o ) Sabrina
